Repentance is not a one-time act when you accept Jesus as Savior, it is a lifestyle. In Hebrew, “Teshuva” means to Repent. It means to turn around and return to a previous state. To restore, reward, and reconcile. Repentance takes two parties – and who repents first? It is always first initiated by the innocent party. Jesus was without sin, but to get the reconciliation under way between God and man, he died for us. Could you be the one responsible for a lack of restoration in a relationship because you are waiting for them to say they are sorry?
